Read 2 Samuel 21:1 through 22:51
In this world of performance-based acceptance, it is hard for people to believe they are valuable. Unless they are the best parent, student, employee, athlete, or musician, people feel they don’t make the cut. Christians can think this way, too: unless they are perfect, unless they work hard to be the best, they are not acceptable to God or others. This is simply not true.
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me (2 Samuel 22:20).
King David made many poor choices and committed several sins. Yet, he always came to God in repentance, and there he found forgiveness. He knew that God did not rescue him because he was a good person. God rescued David because God delighted in David.
God is love. While He is holy and cannot tolerate sin, the blood of Jesus makes His children beautiful and delightful in His sight. He loves and forgives us when we come to Him and ask Him.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Since the Creator of the universe delights in you, what more could you ask for?
