Driving while sending or reading a text message is illegal in most states and a bad idea in every state. But that didn’t stop Cynthia. Excited about the new boots she had just bought at the mall, she couldn’t wait to text her best friend. She was so focused on her phone, she failed to notice the sport utility vehicle stopped in front of her for a pedestrian crossing the street. At twenty-five miles an hour, her car plowed into the SUV’s rear bumper. No one was seriously injured, but the resulting cost curtailed shopping at the mall for a time.
My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight, that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge (Proverbs 5:1–2).
Good driving habits and godly advice have something in common: failure to follow either may result in disaster. Life zooms by, often at seemingly breakneck speeds. But a person whose life honors God takes the time to consider how to live a life worth living. The secret to that success is found in the pages of the Bible. It’s available to those who will hear the Word and obey God.

Good advice only helps if someone hears it and pays attention.
