Passing It On

Read  2 Corinthians 1:1 through 4:18

Marlene had taken her friend, Carol, to the doctor for treatment after her latest surgery. They noticed a woman sitting in the waiting room. The woman’s breathing sounded loud and ragged. It was evident she was in pain. Marlene whispered to the receptionist that the woman appeared to need attention immediately.

Carol took a more direct approach. She went to the woman, offered words of comfort, and held the woman in her compassionate arms. Carol could empathize with the patient because she had experienced much pain and discomfort herself.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God (2 Corinthians 1:3–4).

These verses were more than words on a page to Carol. She applied them by passing along what she had received from God.

PRAYER SUGGESTION: Father, please help me to be an encourager to those in need.
