Read Psalms 87:1 through 92:15
Walking into the store, Jon looked up at his daddy and asked, “Why do I have to learn the multiplication tables? I’ll never use them!” The father quickly demonstated how valuable multiplication is by having his son decide how much it would cost to buy five candy bars.
Sometimes the math of our lives doesn’t seem to add up. But if we look to our Heavenly Father, He will give us the wisdom we need for the balance of our days.
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).
In this psalm, Moses looked at time from three perspectives. First, the eternal: Our eternal God is from everlasting to everlasting (verse 2). He was present before time began.
The second perspective is yearly (verse 10). It speaks of our being on earth temporarily. Unless we are raptured away, our bodies will die and return to dust, while our spirit is present with the Lord.
The third and final perspective is daily (verse 14). It would be wise for us enjoy God’s love, sing for joy, and be glad all our days.
PRAYER SUGGESTION: O God, may I use my time in a way that pleases You.
