Birth Order

Read 1 Chronicles 24:1 through 26:32

Psychologists believe the order in which a child is born into his or her family influences the child’s personality. One theory says first children tend to be leaders and are more likely to attend college while youngest children are often creative and artistic. Birth order sometimes sparks jealousy. For instance, authority and responsibility issues may make some children think their parents favor another.

They also cast lots, just as their brothers the descendants of Aaron did, in the presence of King David and of Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and of the Levites. The families of the oldest brother were treated the same as those of the youngest (1 Chronicles 24:31).

Thankfully, we can be certain that God does not show favor based on such superficial characteristics as birth order. Some people may think God likes certain individuals better than others because they have more money or privileges. But God loves us equally and gives everyone the same opportunity to receive eternal life. No matter who you are, God has a place for you in His kingdom.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

In God’s sight, you are one of the most important people in the world.
