Wait for It

Read Titus 1:1 through 3:15

We wait at the signal for the light to turn green. We wait in the lobby and then again in the examination room when we go to the doctor. We wait in line to make a purchase or pay a bill. Often, waiting is considered to be a negative part of life.

On the other hand, when we’re waiting for something positive, waiting can almost be a joy.

At summer picnics, we wait for the freezer to finish churning so we can enjoy a bowl of homemade ice cream. During December, children (and adults) eagerly wait for Christmas morning to get here so presents can be opened. Expectant parents wait with anticipation for the birth of a child, for the chance to finally see the child.

As believers, we have another event worth waiting for:

“We wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13).

Not only do we wait in anticipation, we live our lives in a way that pleases the Savior we’re waiting for.

Challenge for Today:

The next time you’re waiting, use the time to say a quick prayer of thanksgiving for our blessed hope—the soon return of our Savior.
