The Call to Evangelism

Read Isaiah 5:8 through 7:25; 2 Corinthians 8:1–24

Walking down the street, Mandy passed several strangers. At an outdoor café, an elderly couple sat sip ping coffee as they watched passersby. Coming out of a store, a young mother balanced a crying toddler and her recent purchases. Stopping at a red light, a carload of teenagers screamed lyrics with the blaring radio.

Arriving at her destination, Mandy felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to consider the missed opportunities she experienced during her brief walk.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8–9)

Not everyone is called to a foreign land to share God’s love, but all are called to be ambassadors for Christ. Being a Christian and a missionary go hand in hand. The mission field is all around: coworkers, neighbors, and family members. God is looking for people who are willing to seize every opportunity to share the good news about Jesus.

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY: Ask God to create witnessing opportunities and equip you to share His Truth.
