Small but Mighty

Read Judges 6:1 through 8:35

Ants are very strong. You’ve probably seen a small ant moving the weight of a large leaf or piece of food. In experiments, ants have been found to be able to carry as much as five times their body weight in their jaws. If the item is too heavy to lift, the ant can move an object as much as twenty-five times its weight by dragging it along the ground. Working together, ants can complete extraordinary tasks. The ant is a very small creature, but able to do feats of incredible strength

It isn’t always the one who looks strong or physically imposing who is able to conquer the situation. Remember David and Goliath? Physically, David had little more than a sling and five stones, but he had abundant faith in an incredible God.

In today’s passage, the angel of the Lord commanded Gideon to go and save Israel out of Midian’s hands (Judges 6:14). Gideon, in a moment of either weakness or limited faith, responded that he was too small. Fortunately for Israel, Gideon overcame his weakness and his limited faith in God’s ability to work through a small man. Gideon went on to be known as a mighty warrior for God.

PRAYER SUGGESTION:

Father, help me to see beyond my size and situation and learn to put my trust in You.
