Prayer is the Key

Read Jeremiah 33:1 through 35:19

This is what the Lord says . . . “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:2,3).

The Lord offered to field Jeremiah’s questions and then promised to provide Jeremiah with insight no human could hope to attain on his own.

Imagine a heavily fortified area kept off-limits except to those holding the correct key. That is the intended image that comes from the word “unsearchable” in this passage. Certain areas of knowledge have restricted access.

God was offering to unlock that area of knowledge. He wanted to share with Jeremiah things about Jerusalem’s future that he otherwise could not know or understand, and to which no other ordinary person could gain access.

These types of assurances—the type Jeremiah received here and similar ones expressed throughout Psalms—are available through the method God established to communicate with His people: prayer.

PRAYER SUGGESTION:

God, thank You for the assurance that You hear and respond to my prayers.
