Read 2 Kings 1:1 through 3:27
Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel (2 Kings 2:2).
Elijah was about to be taken away by the Lord, and both men knew it. Despite being given three opportunities to stay behind, Elisha refused to leave Elijah’s side. Elisha was committed, connected, and concerned for his mentor. After Elijah was taken to heaven, Elisha received a double portion of God’s Spirit.
What are you passionate about? What things do you pursue without giving up even when things get tough? Elisha demonstrates the power of love and persistence even when things are difficult. God is looking for followers to pursue His Word and will and be persistent in prayer to hear His clear directions. Remember, those who do not quit will win when they choose to follow God.
PRAYER SUGGESTION: Lord, help me to be persistent in pursuing You.
