Patience in Witnessing

Read  John 4:1–26

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water” (John 4:10).

When Jesus met the woman at the well He knew who she was and what she needed to hear, but she was not at first receptive. She was uncomfortable that Jesus knew all about her life, and she attempted to change the subject. He cared about her heart and wanted her to hear the good news, and He kept directing the conversation appropriately.

There will be times when it seems like people are not listening or caring about your witnessing. They are like the woman at the well, not knowing about the gift that God is offering them. Do not give up. Remain patient and persistent, pray for them, and trust God to give you the right words and to work in their hearts. When you do not see immediate results, it does not mean your witnessing has not been productive. Your words are like seeds, and every seed planted takes time and care to take root, blossom, and grow.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Time and patience are needed in witnessing.
