Forgiveness

Read Mark 10 through 11:33

“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins” (Mark 11:25).

The story is told of a man who feared he was on his deathbed. He made an offering of peace to a man against whom he had held a grudge for years. They shook hands. Then as the former offender left the room, the sick man called after him, “Remember, if I recover, the grudge still stands.”

We all like to be forgiven, but many people find it difficult to forgive.

If we pray, “Forgive me,” and we refuse to forgive other people, we are keeping God from forgiving us. We cannot separate our forgiveness of others from God’s forgiveness of us.

We should take time daily to examine our attitudes toward others to make sure our attitudes match the standards God has set.

Thought for Today:

To be forgiven, we must forgive.
