Read Micah 6:1 through 7:20
Debbie sat weeping in the Christian counselor’s office. Finally, she broke down and told the therapist the truth. Her heart had been burdened with guilt ever since having an abortion ten years earlier. She had asked God to forgive her perhaps a thousand times. But Debbie just couldn’t bring herself to believe that He actually had done so. Thinking that God might still be angry with her made it hard to forgive herself.
The counselor opened his Bible and read from Micah 7: “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:18,19).
God has provided the remedy for sin. When someone sincerely repents, the transgression is covered by the blood of Jesus— forever! Are you still beating yourself up about something you repented of long ago? Have you failed to accept that God has cast it away and will remember it no more? Know that God forgives. Then be sure to do the same for yourself and others.
PRAYER SUGGESTION:
Lord, help me to leave my pardoned sin in the sea of Your forgetfulness.
