Read Luke 14:1 through 16:31
When Arlene and Jerry became separated from their friends while hiking in a remote mountainous area, a search was called. Helicopters flew over the wilderness. Rescue teams armed with blankets, water, and food were dispatched. After eight hours huddled in the cold, the couple was found safe and alive.
Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? (Luke 15:8).
This is a picture of the Holy Spirit’s efforts to bring sinners to God. As we pray for lost family members and friends, God’s Spirit begins to work in their hearts. They may receive a witness, hear a verse of a hymn on the radio, or recall a Bible verse they had memorized as a child.
You are not alone in your efforts to bring your loved ones to God. Jesus, by His Spirit, is searching diligently for the lost one.
Challenge for Today:
Praying for the lost is our job; accomplishing the work of salvation in their hearts is God’s responsibility.
