A Defeated Enemy

Read Revelation 15:1 through 18:24

You may have heard someone make the observation that we should not let Satan intimidate us today because we can go to the end of the Book and discover his doom.

They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers (Revelation 17:14).

Since time began, Satan has been God’s archenemy. Several times throughout history he has tried to prevent God’s plan of salvation from coming to pass. He tried it in the Garden of Eden, and again in the Book of Esther. In the wilderness he tempted Jesus three times. Satan may have even been present in the Garden of Gethsemane in an attempt to deter Jesus from going to the Cross. At Calvary, Satan possibly thought he had finally won. Perhaps he went to bed happy, but woke up horrified. Jesus had risen from the dead. Fast forward, and we see the Lamb with His “called, chosen, and faithful followers” in final triumph over Satan.

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY: This week and in the days ahead, let the song of Revelation 15:3–4, be yours.
