Read Joshua 13:1 through 17:18
“Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said” (Joshua 14:12).
Though Caleb was 85 years old when he spoke these words, he still had the strength and agility of a young man. Nevertheless, he did not rely on his physical strength, nor was he unrealistic about the obstacles that he would have to overcome to possess the land. Caleb relied fully on God’s ability. He knew God had promised him the land and that with God’s help he would be able to overcome the Anakites and their fortified cities. Caleb trusted God to keep His promises.
As Christians, we need to resist the temptation to rely solely on our own skills and abilities to accomplish God’s purpose in our lives. Whatever God has promised, we can trust Him to deliver it. He alone can help us overcome whatever challenges and obstacles stand in our way.
Prayer Suggestion: Ask God to increase your reliance on Him.
