Problems Are Groupies!

Read Nehemiah 5:1 through 7:73

When was the last time you faced just one problem? Although dealing with even one problem isn’t easy, at least you would be able to direct all your effort and energy into resolving it.

Seriously, problems are groupies! It is not at all unusual for two, three, or even four problems to gang up on us. An unruly child, nasty neighbor, difficult boss, and unpaid bills may all fight for our attention. It is easy to become worn to a frazzle.

Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem determined to rebuild the city walls and gates. But as in all work done for the Lord, problems quickly arose. Ridicule, complaints, extortion, slander, and treach[1]ery all sought to derail Nehemiah from God’s task.

Nehemiah refused to allow the problems to overcome him. Relying on the Lord for strength, he thought clearly, acted justly, and led by example.

They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands” (Nehemiah 6:9).

Thought for Today:

God is bigger than all my problems and will not refuse to help me when I call upon Him.
