Read Mark 8:1 through 9:50
People sometimes find themselves facing an impossible situation. It could be a marriage broken almost beyond repair, a child addicted to drugs, a health crisis, or a financial debacle. When facing such a crisis, Christians know God can do the impossible, but they may wonder if He’ll take action to help them.
It’s natural for people to sometimes struggle with such thoughts.
Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24).
This father looked to Jesus with only a small hope that Jesus could do something for his child. Jesus challenged the man to believe. The father responded with an affirmation of his faith and a prayer that Jesus would help him overcome any remnant of unbelief.
Sometimes Christians are fearful of admitting that there is unbelief in their hearts. How can spiritual people have doubts?
But when doubts come, you can respond like the father in this account—reaffirming your faith in God and praying that your doubt will be transformed into faith.
Thought for Today:
God will do the impossible.
