Read Mark 4:1 through 5:43
Brian was fishing in his small boat as a storm unexpectedly approached. Quickly, a bad situation turned worse when the engine wouldn’t start and the boat was caught in a serious whirlpool. Brian immediately cried out to God for help. Miraculously, the engine started, and he returned home safely.
Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (Mark 4:38).
The disciples had the King of Glory, the God of all creation in the back of their boat sleeping as a storm formed. In a moment of trial, they asked an important question, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” The Lord quickly responded by speaking calmness to the storm.
Lack of faith in a trial blinds us to the truth of God’s Word. When we face trials, troubles, and tribulations, and feel like the Lord is not responding when we think He should, we must remember that He is in our boat. We must walk in faith every day knowing God is with us!
Prayer Suggestion:
Teach me, Holy Spirit, to walk in faith during times of trials.
