Read John 6:1 through 7:53
Richard and Darlene had endured several excruciating years. Their business was failing, and they scrambled to pay bills as their utilities were repeatedly shut off. They tried to find other jobs, but it seemed as if God closed every door they knocked on.
The situation kept getting worse. They endured health problems, car repairs, home repairs, personal attacks from other Christians, and maxed-out credit cards.
Some days it looked like God was not fulfilling His promises to care for them, but the couple clung to their faith. “What else can we do?” Darlene asked.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
Jesus was teaching some tough truths to the people following Him, and not everyone liked or understood what they heard. They began to leave Jesus in droves.
“Are you going to leave too? Jesus had asked Peter. Peter knew he had to keep following Jesus.
Prayer Suggestion:
Lord, help me to keep following You even when the going gets tough and the teaching seems hard.
