Read Hebrews 1:1 through 2:18
During the summer of 1944, Allied victories in Europe appeared to herald the end of World War II. By December, with Christmas around the corner, peace on earth seemed within reach. Then Adolf Hitler launched the final great German offensive of the war and hurled his remaining forces against thinly deployed troops along the borders of Belgium and Luxembourg. The Battle of the Bulge cost the Americans and British many lives to hold their lines and turn back the waves of tanks and men and planes assaulting them. An enemy believed to be in retreat caught them by surprise.
We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away (Hebrews 2:1).
Spiritual victories can create the impression that a believer is no longer vulnerable to satanic attack. Vigilance is vital every day. Satan will never rest in his attempts to destroy the people of God. However, God never takes a breather either. The key to victory is holding fast to the truths of the gospel and being alert to anything in your life that would encourage spiritual drifting.
