Read Isaiah 49:1 through 52:12
Who has not known deep loneliness, or soul-rending sorrow, or the kind of rejection that shatters the heart? Some have an unfaithful spouse. Others go through a devastating illness. Still others have a wayward child who never calls home.
When hope evaporates, when heartache engulfs you, when you doubt that God even knows your address, remember God’s encouragement:
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me” (Isaiah 49:15,16).
God wants us to picture a mother tenderly caring for her baby. It is difficult to imagine a mother not having compassion for her own child, yet God guarantees His children that His compassion for them is far greater. Others may turn away, but God never will.
PRAYER SUGGESTION:
Holy Spirit, even in my darkest hour, remind me I am a beloved child of God.
