Read Psalm 34:1 through 38:22
Everyone loves good food. God created human beings to require nourishment and gave them taste buds so they could savor and enjoy every bite. A celebration just wouldn’t be the same without good food and great friends. Certain family meals become memories that are discussed for generations.
As satisfying as a favorite meal may be, it doesn’t take long for a person to be hungry again. Each meal may meet the need for that day, but it can never satisfy deeper spiritual needs. The Psalmist may have had this in mind when he wrote the following:
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:8).
Just as people need food daily for their bodies, they need spiritual nourishment for the soul even more. Each day this spiritual food is available through Scripture, meditation, and prayer. Don’t starve yourself spiritually by not spending time in the presence of God each day.
PRAYER SUGGESTION: God, give me a hunger for Your presence each day that I may experience Your grace and mercy.
