Still There

Read Esther 8:1 through 10:3

The grandfather looked up and saw that his grandson’s kite was hidden by low-hanging clouds. “All I see is a string,” he said with a playful wink. “How do you know it’s still there?”

“Oh, it’s there all right,” the boy answered. “I can feel the tug.”

The Book of Esther never mentions the name of God, yet His loving intervention is evident throughout the story. Faced with the threat of annihilation, the Jews may have wondered if God had abandoned them. But Mordecai reminded Esther that God had a plan. He rightly believed the young woman was placed in the king’s palace by divine appointment to help accomplish God’s purpose of rescuing His people (Esther 9:25).

There are times when you can’t see what God is doing in the midst of difficult circumstances. You may even wonder if He has abandoned you. But you can be sure He is still there, working on your behalf and providing strength and guidance along the way. God promises never to leave you. That assurance is often the tug you need to keep trusting Him as you wait to see the fulfillment of His plan.

Prayer Suggestion:

Thank God that He is there, even when you’re not aware of His presence.
