Seek God’s Wisdom

Read 1 Kings 1:1 through 3:28

One night early in his reign, King Solomon settled down for the night in his royal bed. Perhaps he fretted about how to rule peaceably, for his father’s kingdom had always been at war. But tonight would be no ordinary night. God visited him in a dream and said,

“Ask for whatever you want me to give you” (1 Kings 3:5).

Anything? Solomon may have thought. Wow, a blank check from the God who created the entire universe. So what did Solomon ask for? Wisdom.

“God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore” (1 Kings 4:29).

God told Solomon that because he asked for the best gift, He would give the king not only a wise and discerning heart, but also long life, riches, and honor as Solomon followed Him.

PRAYER SUGGESTION:

Lord, I pray for the leaders of this world, that they will seek You and Your wisdom. I pray for peace, peace that begins with me.
