Rest in Him

Read Psalms 116:1 through 118:29

Worry is a common plight. We get so consumed with our problems that it affects our entire lives—we don’t sleep well, we overeat or under eat, we suffer medical problems, and our relationships go downhill. It is easy to get caught up with the immediate problems or fears that we face rather than focusing on the only real solution to them—our Lord who cares more than anyone about us and what we face. He is more than able to help us in times of trial, yet we often forget to be at rest in Him (Psalm 116:7).

When we look to Him for our answers and peace, He will always respond. Sometimes we do not get the reply we want or He may not choose to answer as soon as we like, but God has the whole picture in mind, and we may not end up seeing it until we get to heaven. That is where trust comes in. We first trust Him for our eternal salvation—the biggest matter of all. We must trust Him to take care of the much lesser cares and concerns we face as well. He will give us His peace when we choose to rest in Him. His rest is there for the asking.

Prayer Suggestion:

Determine to give all your cares and concerns to God today. Keep leaving them at His feet whenever they threaten to return.
