Read Genesis 1:1 through 4:26
The young family—Mom, Dad, and two girls, had a surprise for visiting grandparents. They presented them with a small scroll, tied with a ribbon. Inside, the seniors found the ultrasound photograph of a new life that would be born. The seniors decided to bathe this new life in prayer. He would be loved before he was born.
God’s first actions toward man and woman were ones of love. In God’s character of goodness, He acted to benefit and bless all His creatures.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground” (Genesis 1:28).
We tend to act and feel toward others as they have acted toward us. The Savior’s model is to love first. This reflects His own immeasurable gift at the Cross. It may seem impossible to love the unlovely. But His Spirit is able to love through us.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
God enables me to love first, to embrace flawed people because I live in the love of God.
