Love Found a Way

Read Leviticus 8:1 through 10:20

A young man wanted to become acquainted with a woman he had seen only from a distance. In his culture, however, men were not allowed to speak to women. A family member could act on his behalf, but this man had no family. Yet love found a way. He hired a marriage broker to arrange a meeting.

The Israelites had a similar problem. They needed forgiveness for their sins, but they knew sinful people could not stand before a holy God. Yet God’s love for them found a way: In mercy He instituted a system of sacrifices whereby sinful people could be pardoned.

Aaron then brought the offering that was for the people. He took the goat for the people’s sin offering and slaughtered it and offered it for a sin offering as he did with the first one (Leviticus 9:15).

Fast forward several thousand years to a hill where three crosses stand. The sky is dark as the figure on the center cross cries, “It is finished!” Again, love found a way. Sin-degraded people can now approach a holy God without animal sacrifices. Christ is the sacrifice and we can come to God through Him.

Thought for Today: Love found a way for you to be brought to God; His name is Jesus.
