Read Revelation 2:1 through 3:22
The best gifts received this Christmas cannot compare to the gifts reserved for those who overcome. Four times Jesus says, “To him who overcomes, I will give” (Revelation 2:7,17,26; 3:21), or similar words.
The gifts given are beyond our imaginations. Gifts, such as a crown of life (Revelation 2:10), authority over nations (2:26), the morning star (2:28), our names written in the book of life (3:5), and the right to reign with Jesus on His throne (3:21).
To “overcome” means to surmount difficulties. Everyone experiences trials, challenges, and hardships, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. How do we handle them? Do we try to avoid them, complain about them, or wallow in them? Or do we go through them or over them, persevering through our difficulties with God’s help?
Our example of overcoming is Jesus, whose birth we celebrate. He says, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). By His power within, we too can overcome and look forward to incredible gifts.
PRAYER SUGGESTION:
Lord Jesus, You overcame death itself. Through Your power, help me live as a victorious overcomer.
