Read Psalms 112:1 through 115:18; Romans 8:1–17
Those who have ever experienced condemnation know it is not a good feeling. The Greek root word means “to judge one down.” That is exactly what condemnation does. It makes an individual feel guilty, doomed, and worthless.
Condemnation can come from several sources. Most of the time, Satan will use it to discourage us. Intermingling the gospel of grace with the law of Moses can also bring condemnation. Thankfully, Christians do not live under the Old Covenant. However, we sometimes condemn ourselves by trying and failing to be perfect Christians.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1–2).
When we were born again, Jesus freed us from the Old Testament laws. He paid for our redemption and was judged guilty in our place. We are now free from the law of sin and death. This freedom is a wonderful gift that we should never take for granted.
Thought for Today:
The law of the Spirit embraces grace, not condemnation.
