Read Proverbs 7:1 through 9:18; 1 Corinthians 7:1–20
Have you ever been given an assignment from a teacher or employer that stretched you beyond your comfort zone? It could be the task is especially difficult, or perhaps the people involved are difficult to work with. In life, some assignments affect greater outcomes than a grade, pay raise, or promotion. When the assignment comes from God, success or failure always has eternal consequences.
Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them (1 Corinthians 7:17).
Jesus understood His Father’s will for His life and ministry. Paul, likewise, understood his mission and accepted the cost required to fulfill it. For the believer today, perceiving the will of God and acting on it is the only avenue for walking with Jesus in obedience. Living as a believer is different from living as an unbeliever.
In every relationship and circumstance, believers are to see life as an opportunity to honor God and love one another.
Thought for Today:
Obedience to the call is the only way to make the grade in the school of Christ.
