Read Deuteronomy 12:1 through 18:22
Violating the spearfishing regulations in the Florida Keys can be deadly. Fisherman Gary Cagle died in September 2006 after shooting a goliath grouper, a member of the sea bass family that is illegal to kill in the Keys. The wounded fish, weighing between 160 and 200 pounds, swam under a coral reef. Unfortunately, Cagle’s spearfishing line somehow got tangled around his wrist, dragging him down with the massive fish. Unable to break free, Cagle drowned.
Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 12:28).
The commands in God’s Word are for our benefit, guidance, blessing, and protection. If you know you have been careless and have broken some of God’s rules, seek His forgiveness and resolve not to make the same mistakes in the future.
Thought for Today:
God loves us enough to provide boundaries for our lives.
