Read 1 Corinthians 6:1 through 9:27
Flee from sexual immorality. . . . Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:18–19).
Sin defeats people because people lack understanding. They become engrossed in a sin, such as gossip, anger, pride, or even sexual immorality, because they see themselves bound to that particular sin.
But God’s Word declares transforming truths. The Scripture says believers are dead to sin and alive to God in Christ (Romans 6:11). The Bible even calls Christians righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21).
When we join with Christ and speak the truth of God’s Word over our lives, we can find victory over sin.
The Holy Spirit dwells in Christians, and He can provide the help we need to understand God’s Word and to live in way that pleases God. Self-control, being able to say “no” to sin is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of a believer.
Challenge for Today:
Seek God’s help to overcome any known sins or temptations.
