Read Isaiah 49:1 through 57:21
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news . . . ‘Your God reigns!’” (Isaiah 52:7). This proclamation, more than any other spoken by Isaiah, reveals his attitude toward God’s work, his relationship with God, and his faith in God. He wanted to assure Judah that God was in charge of their circumstances, good or bad.
In 1873 D. L. Moody and Ira Sankey sailed to England for a series of evangelistic meetings. Upon arrival, they found that two of their prime contacts had died. And some pastors who had endorsed Moody’s ministry had turned against him. Rumors about Moody traveled ahead, but he continued to preach, feeling confident that God reigned over all the barriers. Because Moody persevered, revival swept the British Isles.
Perseverance and faith are the twin banners held high in the life of every victorious Christian. If you are facing obstacles or disappointments, as you serve God, be confident that His promises are “reigning” over any obstacles you may encounter.
Thought for Today: Persevere in faith—and see doors open, walls fall down, and clouds lifted by the God who is in control.
