Read Deuteronomy 28:1–68
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth (Deuteronomy 28:1).
Across the nation, gardens help people to get some fresh air, to get some exercise, and to grow something fresh. The variety of crops planted depends on the gardener. One green thumb will plant a variety of peppers to use in homemade salsa. Another will plant the makings for several months’ worth of salads. Still another will ditch the vegetables and grow a colorful bed of flowers. In every case, what each gardener gets depends on what he or she plants.
Planting and harvesting happens in our spiritual lives too. God shows in Deuteronomy 28 that following His commandments brings positive results. In stark contrast, disobedience brings equal, but opposite, penalties. It falls on God’s people to make the right choices about the “crops” they plant, knowing the type of harvest depends on them. What are you planting in your life?
Prayer Suggestion:
Father, let me plant the right thoughts, words, and actions in my life today.
