Read Song of Solomon 1:1 through 8:14
Most people have at least one “lost-as-a-child” story. I have two. I was gazing at a huge wall of linens mother was buying. Suddenly a cold dread struck me as I realized that she, and the shopping cart holding my younger sister, had vanished. The solitude, the fear one feels when one is lost, is overwhelming.
I was with my family at a county fair. Curious, and very independent, I wandered off alone. Soon I was horribly lost, and I clung to a post near the only thing that was familiar to me: an ice cream stand. It seemed like forever until a police volunteer, whom I later found out was called Big John, gently peeled away my fingers and scooped me up. I cannot describe the relief and security I felt in those strong, loving arms.
The Lord promises that we will find Him if we seek Him with our whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13). We must seek Him as urgently as a lost child seeks her mother, with no thought to convention or personal pride, but focused only on finding Him. We must seek Him as Solomon’s bride sought her beloved (Song of Solomon 3:1–4), never resting until we are safe in His strong arms.
PRAYER SUGGESTION:
Lord, how desperately I need You! Help me to find You and never leave Your side again.
