Read Romans 1:1 through 3:20
In hopes of reaching the postmodern generation, many churches have changed the way they conduct services today. Bistro tables, comfortable chairs, and the smell of coffee permeate the foyer. People stand, sit, talk, and mingle. Once inside, large screens project digital video, accompanied by lively music. Sermons present the gospel in a dynamic and relevant way.
One thing, though, has not changed. Whether traditional or contemporary, the church still needs people. A video clip or sermon may inspire, but people still yearn for an understanding ear and a real shoulder to cry upon.
Paul knew this truth. He longed for fellowship. He knew that being around other believers would encourage his faith, increase his strength, and inspire his Christian walk. So as he traveled to preach and teach, he spent time fellowshipping with other believers (Romans 1:11,12).
Whether your church services are postmodern or more conventional, seek out other believers. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you encourage others in their faith. Laugh with them. Offer a shoulder, a listening ear, or maybe just a cup of coffee.
PRAYER SUGGESTION:
Holy Spirit, direct me toward someone who needs encouragement today.
