Who Is Worthy?

Read Revelation 5:1 through 9:21

Several times each year, a well-known multistate lottery game features a jackpot worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Invariably, people scramble into convenience stores to purchase their chance at a lifetime of leisure with money to burn.

When someone finally hits the jackpot, they are showered with money they didn’t earn. They did nothing to merit that windfall except to gamble their grocery money in hopes of a shot at everyone else’s grocery money; hardly an act “worthy” of millions of dollars!

On the other hand, consider one whose actions have made Him worthy to receive all the treasure in all of history, yet to whom such wealth means nothing.

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12).

Christ, the Lamb, is worthy of all these things and then some. He gave up heaven for earth, power for humility, life for death—and all for us.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Jesus alone is worthy, yet in His death He has made us all worthy in the sight of the Father.
