Broken Before the Father

Read Psalms 46:1 through 53:6

When Jane was passed over for the promotion, her heart was broken. Because she trained the one who received the promotion, she felt betrayed. Crushed and lonely, she sought the solitude of home; however, this is the perfect time to seek the Father.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise (Psalm 51:17).

Contrite means crushed. When we are broken and crushed with sorrow from disappointment or repentance for sins and humbly come before our Father, He welcomes the opportunity to renew us. It is the perfect time for Him, and the only time we come to the end of ourselves and place our hearts into His loving hands.

We may feel that we need to bring a sacrifice when we come into His presence. The only sacrifice He welcomes is a broken and crushed heart that He desires to mend. Spiritual renewal begins with humility, and humility is the first step in a spiritual walk with God.

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY:

Bring your broken and contrite heart to a loving heavenly Father and see how He will initiate spiritual renewal.
