God’s Life-Giving Word

Read Psalms 106:1 through 109:31

Ryan slipped downstairs at midnight, trying not to awaken his wife or their three children. The weary young father needed a little time with Jesus. Overwhelmed by life, he felt like an all-around failure.

Ryan prayed, but, when he sensed no immediate reply, he muttered, “I must be failing You too.”

Desperate for an escape to a simpler time in his life, Ryan played an old music CD. It began with the sweet voice of a child reciting:

My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music . . . I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples (Psalm 108:1,3).

Tears rolled down Ryan’s cheeks as the words penetrated his heart. Dropping to his knees, he begged, “Forgive me, Jesus, for feeling like a failure when You’ve given me victory! I will praise You.”

The Scriptures are life to a believer. God’s words will strengthen the heart and inspire praise.
