Moldable

Read Jeremiah 14:1 through 20:18

Geneva stood with her teenage daughter for a few moments while they watched a potter give a demonstration at the local craft show. He pumped his foot pedal, spun the platform, dipped his hand in a bowl of water, and used his fingers to shape the lump of clay he was working on. Soon he took out a wire and allowed its sharp cutting action to shape an elegant and slender neck. With careful attention, a nearly worthless glob became a beautiful and functional work of art.

God molds us with skill far beyond a human potter. “ ‘Can I not do with you as this potter does?’ declares the Lord. ‘Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand’” (Jeremiah 18:6).

Has the Potter been at work in your life? Does it sometimes feel as if you are spinning out of control, squeezed and stretched? Perhaps the Lord is shaping you with His tools of circumstance, creating a new person who can better serve and glorify Him. Trust that He knows how to use everything that comes your way to make you better than before. The end result will surely be worth it all.
